Full Mouth Dental Implants

A dental implant is an artificial tooth root made of titanium. It is surgically placed in the jawbone and a crown, dental bridge or a denture made of acrylic or ceramic is attached. This restoration replaces the space where a natural tooth should be.

If you are missing an entire row of teeth, you are in a unique position, you have a chance to start fresh with full mouth dental implants. There are other options for restoring a full row of missing teeth such as single implants and traditional dentures, but today there is a solution that is more affordable, quick, and convenient.

Compassionate, efficient, and effective is how to describe the entire team at Karmazin Dental. The skills of each team member are unparalleled in the area. We live and breathe a collaborative approach in developing your personal oral health plan. You will not find a more technologically advanced practice that offers a more relaxing and comfortable setting. Your smile is our priority because we all strongly believe that your smile is a foundational gateway to your personality. It can drive your level of self-esteem and self-confidence. Call, text, or email us for an appointment for an evaluation on the benefits of a full mouth dental implant restoration for you. Our number is 605-323-1320 and you can find the entire team at Karmazin Dental, 5701 S. Remington Pl, Sioux Fall, SD 57108, where we have plenty of free parking.

Traditional dentures can be inconvenient, unstable, and uncomfortable. Dental implants are an excellent choice for single tooth replacements, but on the scale of a full arch, they can be expensive and complicated. However, combining these two treatments together yields a solution that works for almost everyone, implant-supported overdentures, or full mouth dental implants. With the placement of only four dental implants in the jaw and a full dental bridge attached to them, you can have a full row of teeth in just one appointment.

The Benefits and Advantages of Full Mouth Dental Implants

Dental implants provide several advantages over other replacement options. In addition to looking and functioning like your natural teeth, implant-supported full bridges or dentures are designed to be long lasting. Full mouth dental implants, implant-supported full bridges and dentures are more comfortable and stable than traditional dentures, giving you a more natural biting and chewing capacity.

Full mouth dental implants will also replace some of your tooth roots, preserving the integrity of your jawbone. With traditional dentures, the bone that previously surrounded the tooth roots begins to deteriorate and atrophy. Dental implants integrate with your jawbone, helping to keep the bone healthy and intact.

In the long term, implant supported restorations can be more aesthetic and easier to maintain than conventional dentures. The loss of bone that comes with conventional dentures leads to a collapsed, unattractive smile.

Benefits include:

  • Implants look, feel, and perform like natural teeth. You will not notice any difference between your implants and your natural teeth.
  • Implants are the strongest and longest-lasting option for tooth replacement.
  • Implants do not require alteration to the structure of adjoining teeth, like dental bridges do.
  • Implants help preserve the bone mass in the jaw, which is a major factor for maintaining long term oral health. They prevent the collapsed, wrinkled facial look caused by the bone loss that occurs because of missing teeth.

The Full Mouth Dental Implant Procedure

With our specialized training in implant placement and the creation of new teeth, the experts at Karmazin Dental know how the new teeth should look and function. The crowns, bridges or dentures that will attach to the implants are custom fabricated using a certified dental lab, which only uses high-quality materials to ensure long-lasting comfort and fit.

Our team uses advanced technology to ensure the accuracy of your implant treatment. Using a state-of-the-art 3D CT scanner, we capture detailed 360-degree views of your entire mouth and jaw, including nerves and bone density. Special 3D software allows us to map out the exact location and angle of each implant, simulating the entire procedure. If needed, we can create a surgical guide to use during the procedure to aid in implant placement. The use of this 3D imaging and planning makes the procedure efficient and minimally invasive.

When we have your personalized plan developed, we will first administer a local anesthetic to numb the immediate area. If you might experience some anxiety, we can discuss the addition of a dental sedation. Then the implants, which looks like tiny screws or cylinders, are surgically placed into your jaw. The incision is closed with sutures and now we wait. Over the next two to six months, the titanium implants and the bone are allowed to bond, grow, or fuse together to form anchors for your artificial teeth. During this time, a temporary teeth replacement option will be designed for you.

Now a second step is usually necessary to uncover the implants and attach extensions or abutments. These temporary healing caps, along with the connecting devices that allow your multiple crowns restoration to attach to the implants, complete the foundation on which your new teeth will be placed. Your gums need a couple of weeks following this procedure to heal.

Depending upon the number of implants placed, the connecting device that will hold your new teeth can be tightened down on the implant. Karmazin Dental may recommend a ball type snap-on retaining fixture or a bar type that follows the curve of your arch. The final restoration will snap on either foundation.

Finally, full bridges or full dentures will be custom created for you and be placed on to your retaining system. After a short time, you will experience restored confidence in your smile and your ability to chew and speak.

Every case is different, and some of these steps can be combined when conditions permit. Our team will work with you to determine the best treatment plan.
