What is the Difference between Invisalign and Traditional Braces?
Traditional braces and Invisalign perform the same basic function, but there are some huge differences between the two. Each method has its pros and cons. Traditional braces are used to treat more severe alignment issues that Invisalign cannot correct. The cost of traditional braces is less than that of Invisalign, depending on the actual amount of work and time.
The materials used for both methods is the primary difference. Traditional braces are made with metal or enamel, while Invisalign is made totally with plastic. Because of the wires and metal used for traditional braces, if you are active physically you risk injury to your cheeks if the wire becomes damaged. This can be extremely uncomfortable and can only be treated by visiting Karmazin Dental. Traditional braces are fixed and not removeable without our help. For this reason, they can be difficult to clean, and certainly can be a nuisance at times.
The Benefits of Invisalign
Invisalign offers similar treatment without all the hassle that comes with traditional braces. The trays are made of clear plastic and are far more comfortable to wear. There are no wires. This lowers your risk of injury to your mouth overall. Here are a few benefits:

The Invisalign Procedure
The process of getting Invisalign braces begins with a consultation at Karmazin Dental because we have expert training with this system. At this consultation, we start by taking digital images of your teeth and your mouth. These images will help us create your treatment plan. Once your plan of action is decided by us together, we will introduce the amazing technology. A 3D CAD/CAM system uses the digital images to design a series of plastic trays that push or pull your teeth, just like traditional braces. We can also use this technology to show you a finished image of our goal before we even begin.
Based on your treatment plan and the desired correction, you will be given the trays that are designed to be changed out and replaced every two weeks. Each tray will move a tooth or teeth .25 millimeters at a time. Slow and deliberate movement without uncomfortable metal braces. We will also schedule appointments every two months so we can monitor the alignment to confirm it is going according to our plan.
It is imperative, to achieve desired results, that you wear your aligners at least 20-22 hours a day. They are removable, but this benefit cannot be abused. You need to closely watch the time they are out of your mouth, or you are simply extending the duration of your entire procedure.
Oral Health with Aligners
It is necessary to understand that wearing your new aligners can help you maintain your oral health. It is easier for you to continue to brush, floss, and rinse out your mouth. You will need to take good care of your aligners by keeping them clean. This simply means rinsing them once a day and brushing them lightly with your toothbrush. Straightening crooked teeth, filling unwanted gaps, and adjusting your bite can be easy with the help of Invisalign if you simply take care of your teeth, your gums, and your aligners.
